KPK Names Eight New Suspects in North Sumatra Road Project Corruption Case

SUMUTONE.COM | PADANG SIDEMPUAN — Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has expanded its investigation into alleged corruption involving road construction and preservation projects under the North Sumatra National Road Implementation Agency (BBPJN Sumatera Utara), naming eight new suspects.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the new suspects were identified following developments in the investigation in September 2026.

“Based on the investigation developments in September, the KPK named eight new suspects in this case,” Budi said.

However, the anti-graft agency has not yet disclosed the identities or alleged roles of the eight individuals. The investigation remains ongoing.

“We will provide updates on the identities of those named as suspects at a later stage, as the investigation is still progressing,” Budi added.

KPK Examines Former Regional Heads and Public Works Officials

As part of the investigation, KPK investigators questioned several individuals at the State Treasury Service Office (KPPN) in Padang Sidempuan and the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta.

Those examined at the Padang Sidempuan KPPN office included former regional heads, public works officials, and employees of regional government agencies.

The individuals identified as having been questioned were:

  1. Dolly Putra Parlindungan Pasaribu — Former South Tapanuli regent.
  2. Hanafi Rambe — Driver for the South Tapanuli Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR).
  3. Muhammad Jafar Sukhairi Nasution — Former Mandailing Natal regent for the 2021–2025 term and current chairman of the North Sumatra regional board of the National Awakening Party (PKB).
  4. Elpi Yanti Harahap — Acting head of the Mandailing Natal PUPR Agency.
  5. Rajab Asri Nasution — Head of the Highways Division at the Mandailing Natal PUPR Agency since 2023 and Commitment-Making Official (PPK) for the division since 2024.
  6. Mardiah — Honorary staff member at the Mandailing Natal PUPR Agency.
  7. Ramlan — Head of the North Padang Lawas PUPR Agency from 2021 to 2024.

The questioning of former regional leaders and public works officials forms part of the broader investigation into alleged corruption in North Sumatra road projects.

However, being questioned as part of an investigation does not automatically mean that an individual has been named a suspect.

As of the KPK’s statement on October 7, 2026, the identities of the eight newly named suspects and their alleged roles had not been publicly disclosed.
