SUMUTONE.COM | LABUHANBATU — A joint team from the Labuhanbatu Police Narcotics Unit and the North Labuhanbatu National Narcotics Agency (BNN) raided a makeshift shelter in an oil palm plantation in Perdamean Village, Rantau Selatan District, Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra, on Friday, October 9, 2026. Three people were arrested, and 1.61 grams of suspected methamphetamine were seized.
The raid was part of Indonesia’s efforts to prevent and combat drug abuse and illicit narcotics trafficking. Police launched the operation after receiving reports from residents who suspected the shelter was being used for drug transactions and was frequently visited by people from outside the area.
Acting on the information, the joint team, led by Labuhanbatu Police Narcotics Unit Chief AKP Hardiyanto, arrived at the location at around 4:30 p.m. local time and conducted the raid.
Labuhanbatu Police Chief AKBP Wahyu Endrajaya, through Public Relations Officer AKP Aswin Irwan, identified the three suspects as PHP, also known as Pitra, 29, a resident of Sigambal Village, and SP, known as Aman, 48, and IH, known as Irpan, 31, both residents of Perdamean Village, Rantau Selatan District.
Police seized a total of 1.61 grams of suspected methamphetamine, consisting of 1.43 grams found in a glass pipe and another 0.18 grams in a small plastic bag. Officers also confiscated a homemade drug-smoking device, two lighters, and a small scoop made from a plastic straw.
“During preliminary questioning, the suspects claimed they had obtained the methamphetamine from a man known by the nickname COY,” Aswin said on Sunday, October 11, 2026.
Following the disclosure, officers searched the surrounding area for COY, but he had not been found at the time of the report.
Before leaving the site, the joint team burned the makeshift shelter, which was covered with a tarpaulin, along with other items suspected of being used for drug consumption and transactions.
The three suspects and the seized evidence were subsequently taken to Labuhanbatu Police Headquarters for further investigation and legal proceedings.
